Ash Ketchum Has Become The Worst RoleModel Ever

(Honestly, the title could've read "Ash Ketchum Has Become The Worst Metaphor Ever" and it would've made the same amount of sense).

FAKE: New Jynx Evolution in Pokemon X/Y

This scan surfaced on Japanese blogs a few days ago, showing a new Jynx evolution named 'Rujyeria' (ルジェリア). It looks really authentic, and features perfect Japanese...but the magazine page itself and the font used for the text is suspicious; CoroCoro would never use such cheap blank designs and the text looks like standard MS Gothic...speaking of which, no one even mentioned which magazine this came from! The screenshots in the bottom-right also look like old photos with Rujyeria stuffed in, and that silhouette looks cheap.

The Pokemon art itself looks great though; I wouldn't be surprised if it were real! Very high quality fake. It was created by a Japanese person, which explains the lack of grammatical errors.

My 5 Wishes for the Next Pokemon Game

Gen VI is coming, and with it, a doozey of new features, and awesome Pokemon we can complain about because they're Japanese exclusives, are soon to follow. But hopefully, Game Freak takes a hint from the fans and improves more of the series' past irks. Things like...

5. More ways to find past Gen Pokemon

 Gotta' catch them a-ah-AH-AAAAHHHHHH!!!!

Anyone who has ever tried to complete their Pokedexes (*Raises hand*) should know how strainous and tedious the whole endeavor is. Every new Pokemon game(s) have offered help in the form of region outbreaks, sure, but it's still not enough. Safari Zones didn't help matters too much and you still can't obtain a lot of the last gen Legendary Pokemon without going on the GTS or be present in Japanese Events- gamers new to the series are going to have a hard time collecting all the Pokemon at this rate. We need another way to catch Pokemon- something exciting- I'll call it the "Nostalgia Park", where you can catch past gen Pokemon by the PC box full, until time runs out; even if you can only catch Pokemon of the uncommon variety it will help. Or, just add more outbreaks. We can't always rely on Toy's-R-Us to get rare Event Pokemon. And speaking of which...

4. Release Event Pokemon WORLDWIDE (Not just in Japan)

"No, no, too tentacle hentai eccentric for America, give them a shiny Bidoof instead."

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are going to be the first games in the series to be released worldwide on the same day. So why should everywhere settle for just the games when Japan continually gets exclusive Pokemon thereafter? Distribution of Event Pokemon in America (And Europe. Not trying to diss you guys) is ridiculous at best. Didn't pre-order your game at Wal-Mart? Well then you don't get Jirachi, go back home to yo momma, boy!! Some can argue the point of Event Pokemon is to have something valuable no one else has, but is that fair? You can't even trade Keldeo over wi-fi let alone the fact that you don't live near a Toy's-R-Us store. If Japan wants a shiny Victini, then by all means do, but can't we have at least a non-shiny version? PLEASE????

3. Improve the GTS already!

GTS: Showing you how awful people are all over the world since 2008!

The GTS was introduced in Pearl/Diamond versions 5 years ago. Since then we've had four new Pokemoniterations (I'm counting two seperate versions as one), and it has not improved since. You still can only request one Pokemon at a time, view a measly six people per page, and the server is a breeding ground, A BREEDING GROUND, for trolls who will ask for Lv. 9 Reshirams and Zekroms. This needs to stop. The GTS needs to burned and built from the ground up. It needs improved features, more userfriendly search options, and for the love of Arceus hire moderators and stop this trolling.

2. More Alternate Evolution forms + New Types.

 DIGIVOLVE!

Excluding Eevee, the number of Pokemon that have alternate evolution forms can be counted on one hand, which is disappointing. Gen VI has already confirmed new alternate forms, so this is a perfect opportunity for experimenting. How awesome would it be to choose what type(s) your starter Pokemon would be when it evolves? While we're on the topic of evolutions, isn't it about time Kangaskhan got a pre-evolution already? Where the heck did it get that baby?!

Also, why hasn't there been a new type since Gen II? The current elementary types are fine, but we need more. Light and sound types anyone? Come on, use some creativity! Just don't make Fennekin's evolution Fire/Fighting is all I'm saying.

1. Introduce something completely new.

It's a secret to everyone.

Pokemon has always been improving to make the core gameplay more interesting: Gen II gave us held items and Pokemon breeding, Gen III introduced double battles, Gen IV let us trade worldwide (for better or worse), and Gen V took a bigger leap by offering 150 new Pokemon and gave us Triple Battles. Gen VI needs to carry on the torch and offer us something new. May it be Quadruple Battles, a new elemental type, or just improves past gen achievements (bring back Vs. Seeker dammit!), there needs to be something new to keep the series moving forward.

Hopefully, the series will continue to offer new and exciting features to amuse our grandchildren and our grandchildren's children for generations to come.

The Big N5 of the Week - Over Ruled!

Hello everyone! Welcome to another edition of the Big N5; where we bring you the best news of the week while Japan is busy whipping fingers screaming "Objection!" to men wearing top hats!

5. Nintendo reveals the crazy beta prototypes for the Wii U Gamepad.
What you're staring at is not GE microwave cover from the 80's, but the actual first prototype for the Wii U Gamepad. It looks...futuristic? A Wii Zapper with a video screen was also considered for Nintendo Land. You can read and see all the craziness in the Iwata Asks Interview link I just provided.

4. One man sets out to make a full 3D first-person Pokemon game.
It might seem too impressive (especially incorporating a Minecraft Pokemon mod in it's design), but this is shaping up to be an interesting fan made game - made by one person nonetheless. The music needs some work, but for a game that's going to be free, you got to give the guy a nod for trying.

3. Nintendo blocks European gamers from buying 18+ Rated content at certain times of the day.
What the heck, Nintendo? The blocking is due to parental controls, which Nintendo stated further with this statement: "We have thus decided to restrict the access to content which is unsuitable to minors (PEGI) to the 11pm - 3am time window." At this time Nintendo assumes that all adults only play games at late nights and early mornings, and won't say whether they'll take down the parental block or not. Hopefully the outcry from angry gamers will put sense into their heads: We need sleep!!

2. Nintendo Direct: Pikmin 3, bells n' whistles, and delays.
Last week's Nintendo Direct gave us more images and gameplay videos for Pikmin 3; showcasing the game's beautiful graphics and detailed environments. That's all the Pikmin 3 you'll see for awhile however, since the game has been delayed until Q3 2012. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon has also been delayed for Q2 2012. Ouch. On a better note, Harmo Knight has been slated for localization in NA and Europe sometime in Spring 2012 on the Nintendo eShop. 2012 is looking to be a good, though late, year for Nintendo gaming.

1. Capcom releasing Street Fighter X Mega Man for FREE this month!
Miss your Mega Man fix? We all do, son don't worry. But get ready to control your body, because Capcom is releasing Street Fighter X Mega Man on the PC FOR FREE on December 17th! Granted, it started out as a fan game, but Capcom took it under it's wing and gave it a touch up- and what am I kidding, IT'S FREE. IT'S OFFICIAL. IT'S MEGA MAN. IT'S STREET FIGHTER. IT'S FREE. DO YOU NEED ANY OTHER REASON TO NOT BE EXCITED?!?! Merry Christmas Mega Man! Great to see you back in action!

And Merry Almost-Christmas to all of you! Join us back next week for another installment!

Pokemon Black 2 Review 9.0

Score: 9.0
Recommendation: 5/5 Stars

When Pokemon Black/White were first released, the first reaction in my hoarse throat I could utter was simply “I’ll wait for the third iteration, Pokemon Grey.” Pokemon marketing has been such an obvious cycle of repeats, it would be crazy if they didn’t release a new color. Well I was both right and wrong; not only were two new iterations released, but they’re definitely not the “Grey” game I was looking forward to - but that’s a good thing. I was expecting the same ol’ stuff, but at least a better game than what Pearl/Diamond/Platinum could provide (I’m looking at you snail-paced battles, honey trees, and Bidoof). I got that and plus much, much more than I originally hoped for in the far land of Unova.

Black 2/White 2 are the first direct sequels to any previous game in Pokemon history. This may sound like it’s catering to veterans who played the original Black/White, but as a newcomer, I can safely say I didn’t feel left out or frequently said “huh?” through my journey, because like any and all Pokemon games it caters to every new and old fan alike, no matter the skill level. This is what made Pokemon special in the first place, and it’s the reason why the games sell in the millions, on day one no less.

These game kicks off 2 years after the first two versions, and judging by user feedback, you start at a completely new town with a new rival, and receive your starter from the previous installment’s female rival, Bianca. After that it’s no mystery what happens next: you receive Pokeballs, you catch Pokemon, you fight Gym Leaders, and stop an evil team along the way. Story-wise, that might make sense of the ‘If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it’ approach that the Pokemon games strictly follow, but after you gain incite from what happened two years ago in Black/White you can plainly see the story took a much more interesting approach story telling with it’s evil PETA-esk team of crusaders. Some turned over a new leaf, and we’re left with a few members here and there that seem like they were just tacked on to the game because it needed an evil team. Don’t get me wrong, your rival’s quest for finding his sister’s kidnapped Purrlion is somewhat interesting, but it’s hard to take the guy seriously with his pronounced spike-y Saiyan hair (I literally named him ‘Goku’).

But it’s not the story I play Pokemon for, it’s the Pokemon themselves, and man do these versions deliver on that factor alone. The Unova Pokedex has a boosted 300 Pokemon prior to the credits only. The expansion isn’t new Pokemon, but a assorted variety from previous Gens. Don’t go thinking they’re just common seen-them-a-million-times-before series troopers like Geodude and Machop though; rare Pokemon like Eevee, Riolu, Drifloon, and many more Pokemon can be found in more numbers than ever before. A new Habitat feature on your Pokedex will make the catching process even more convenient. It always tells you if there’s more Pokemon in the area, when you could find them, and presents you a sticker when you complete each area. With such a robust amount of features, weather and season changes to find different colored Pokemon each month, and hidden grottos to discover, B2/W2 will give any trainer a boost in their collecting without having to migrate/trade all those Pokemon from previous installments. Never has “catch em’ all” been so re-enforced on this scale.

Pokemon battling is just as fun as it ever was, but I’m still surprised how well the turn-based gameplay has actually improved despite being such a caveman style RPG tradition. Granted, it’s still the same battle system, but I loved how they finally reduced the length and breadth of battles and don’t force us to wait in anticipation every time we attack a Snorlax and have to wait for his HP to wittle down. B2/W2 introduced two new battle styles: Triple and Rotational Battles to break up the monotony of normal battles and to encourage more creative and strategic placement of your Pokemon. They’re a blast to play, and are the best new forms of gameplay the Pokemon games seen since double battles were introduced in Ruby/Sapphire. New battle styles aren’t the only new improvement; new attack and defensive moves are very welcome, and will definitely change competitive battles once again. Limitless reusable TM’s (Technical Machines for teaching new battle moves) are such a major improvement that I couldn’t help myself teaching a move to all my Pokemon whenever I find one, without worrying about wasting a perfectly good TM on a weak Pokemon I decide to ditch later on or constantly wasting my Pokedollars on a good TM over and over again (right, Ice Beam?).

B2/W2 has a well rounded set of C Gear features, both single and multiplayer, to make sure you can raise those Pokemon to their peak perfection and helping other fellow trainers in the process. One of those features is the Entralink, which can accessed almost anywhere in the game, and any player can join in on the other‘s game card and help them complete the mission(s) at any time. Players will then perform certain tasks in the over world, like beating 10 martial artists or finding set berries scattered though out the world. Players are then rewarded with Orbs which can be used as a form of power currency to activate temporary abilities like finding more rare Pokemon in grass, Exp. Boosts, and repellents. Sometimes you’re even rewarded Heart Scales and other rare items just for participating. This is not only great news for new players that haven’t collected all the good items in the past Pokemon games, but it’s also a big break for vets of the series since they won’t have to transfer all those items to the new versions. In an example of how generous these games are; they literally hand you a Lucky Egg, an item that greatly boosts Exp. Points after battle, long before you step foot in the Pokemon League.

But don’t think these games being generous will make them too easy. In fact, they’re probably the most balanced Pokemon games yet in terms of difficulty. Strong trainers are not an uncommon site, and the Gym leaders don’t go down easy. Breeder trainers are almost on every route, and they will battle you whenever you cross a different route and back then get into their sights, whether you’re ready or not (this can also be annoying sometimes). The Wild Pokemon are no pushovers either. It’s a series first to find a lot of these Pokemon at such high levels. The delicate catching process of trying to weaken a Pokemon without fainting it, is as evident here as it always is, but once their levels start climbing and you start to encounter Legendaries you’ll have to mix up your strategy by trying to keep your team healthy while trying not to faint the wild Pokemon. Players that want a harder or easier challenge are in luck (well, that is if you know another with a different version of the game) because it’s version offers a unique special “key” item after completing certain tasks. While the White 2 key unlocks Easy Mode, the Black 2 key unlocks Challenge Mode, and both keys can unlock new routes with Pokemon to catch, and change the versions’ Black City to White Forest or vice versa. Unfortunately for those hoping to play the entire storyline in Challenge or Easy Mode will have to wait until they can find another person with the respective version that already beat the Pokemon League, which almost defeats it’s own purpose. My wish for Gen 6 would definitely be an option to change the difficulty setting at will, but at least Gen 5 provides a harder/easier challenge post-game.

And you can’t mention Pokemon without multiplayer, and B2/W2 provide the best options I’ve seen yet. No more must we run to a Pokemon Centers whenever we want to battle/trade locally: you can battle/trade with anyone anywhere in the game, even when you turn on your game and realize you’re halfway through a cave. This is such a far cry from last generation’s connection features, it almost feels alien (the cute fuzzy kind that gives you cookies). Another C Gear feature is the Xtransceiver, where you can compete in goofy mini-games with your face pasted on balloons (considering you’re using a DSi or 3DS). The Pokemon Global Trading System also makes an appearance, but if anything it’s probably the biggest disappointment in both versions. It’s not the developers fault however, but the absolute ridiculous requests people are now putting up in exchange for just common Pokemon no less. I honestly could not find one fair trade that wasn’t taken in a matter of minutes. You’re better off trading with sane people you know, which the GTS proves most useful, though when trading with random people I did find it annoying how you still can’t specify alternate forms, nor can you offer more than one Pokemon at a time.

In conclusion, if anything else B2/W2 versions offer a consistent 200 plus hours of gameplay if you decide to search every nook and cranny of the Unova region and catch every Pokemon, and that’s not even counting the NationalDex, Pokemon World Tournament, Entralink missions, and a beef of Achievements to unlock. As a fan of Pokemon from the beginning, and playing almost every game in the series, I can honestly say Pokemon B2/W2 is a step in the right direction.

The Big N5 of the Week - Fear my sword of bread!

(To anyone in any universe reading our weekly blog, I've been accidentally posting the blog as "Big 5" instead of "Big N5". We will go with the latter from now on.)

5. Master Sword made out of bread.
Yup...

 4. Little Masters: The Masters of Monsters.
To see some more pics of this hilarious iOS Pokemon knock-off check out this link. It even has a trailer too!

3. Genesect available at launch via Mystery Gift!
Having a hard time tracking down those darn Event Pokemon? Well lucky for you, because Genesect, that cyborg prior-Japanese-only Pokemon, will be available via mystery gift on the day Pokemon Black 2/White 2 are released for nearly two months! Get your bodies ready, trainers!

2. New Nintendo Land attractions revealed. (image linked from GoNintendo)
New attractions for the upcoming Wii U launch title Nintendo Land have been revealed as a shooting game inspired by Metroid, where the the player controlling the control pad steers Samus' ship blasting at other players below. The second attraction revealed was a Balloon Fighter mini-game, but very many images have surfaced as of yet.

 1. Club Nintendo gave away limited Kirby medals as a reward this week.
For only 600 coins (and if you were one of the lucky ones to get) Club Nintendo members snagged this shiny Kirby pin. Unfortunately, it was limited to only 1,000 pins and is not not available any more (WHY CRUEL WORLD?!?!). Kirby's 20th Anniversary for Wii is still available though, so snag it up while you can!

Thanks for reading and try not to burn your Master Sword as you put it into the oven!

The Big N5 of the Week - Reggie has FURY!

Huge stories for our Big N5 today. Let's see what happened in the world of Nintendo this week:

5. Pokemon Global Link 2.0.
After a two week hiatus of site maintenance the Pokemon Global Link is now back up and running, with exciting new features. Pokemon Black and White players can now instantly connect with other players without a Union Room, and use the new XTranseiver and Entralink to play new mini-games with other people from around the world, which boosts prizes and EXP, while increasing the number of people in the Black city/White Forest. And lastly, players can connect to the dream World seamlessly via Wi-fi. Be sure to check it out!

4. Reggie calls out unsatisfied fans
Didn't like this year's E3? Reggie has something to say about that: "One of the things that, on one hand, I love and, on the other hand, that troubles me tremendously about not only our fanbase but about the gaming community at large is that, whenever you share information, the perspective is, 'Thank you, but I want more.' 'Thank you, but give me more.' I mean, it is insatiable. And so for years this community has been asking, 'Where's Pikmin?' 'Where's Pikmin?' 'Where's Pikmin?' We give them Pikmin. And then they say, 'What else?' For years, this community have said, 'Damnit Reggie, when you launch, you better launch with a Mario game.' So we launch with a Mario game, and they say, 'So what's more?' I have heard people say, 'You know, you've got these fantastic franchises, beyond what you're doing in Smash Bros., isn't there a way to leverage all these franchises?' So we create Nintendo Land and they say, 'Ho-hum, give me more.' So it's an interesting challenge." Take it however you must, but you have to give him credit for having guts.

3. Two games coming to 3DS VC every week in July!
Nintendo hosted a post E3 conference on Nintendo Driect on Friday revealing some juicy new info on 3DS titles. But it wasn't just new titles that getting the spotlight: Nintendo also announced that two VC titles will be released every week for the 3DS, through July 5th to August 1st. The first title will be the classic Legend of Zelda, followed by The Sword of Hope IIand Kirby's Pinball Land the following week, with the next two weeks titles including Tumblepop, Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters and Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 at the rear of the current release list (wait, isn't that three in one week?) Sonic Blast and Sonic Labyrinth from the GamGear are also scheduled for a Summer release, but no specific release dates are given.  Please consider releasing GBA titles next, Nintendo!

2. Namco-Bandai co-developing the next Smash Bros.
Nintendo also revealed on Friday that the next Smash Bros. game will be co-developed with Namco-Bandai. Nintendo didn't reveal too much after that, but they did specify that the staff teams that worked on popular franchises Tekken, Tales, and Soul Calibur are the one's in the development working on the new Smash Bros. Will we see characters like Klonoa, Nightmare, or Pac-Man duke it out on the field? Cross your fingers and hope for more info come next E3.

1. 3DS XL announced!
And finally, Nintendo revealed the new 3DS iteration: 3DS XL. With a 1.5x bigger screen, it will make your 3DS games come to life like never before. Unfortunately, it does not have a right analog stick and it will not support the current accessory already out in GameStop, but luckily it isn't necessary if you're already used to using one analog stick. The system will cost $200 and will released in Europe on July 28th. NA release date is still TBA.

Thanks for reading, and join us next week for 5 more reasons to be a Nintendo gamer!

Big N5 of the Week - Guns, Wii U's, and Kirbys Everywhere!

Our new news feature, depicting the top 5 best Nintendo stories from around the web. Updated every Sunday. Is your body ready?

5. Rumor: Leaked Microsoft document revealed Wii U price tag?

An apparent leaked Microsoft document describing the next gen Xbox, also had some stuff to say about the Wii U. The document described that the Wii U will cost $250, and being first in new console train line could "defend [Nintendo's] success in broad gaming segments" and "further erode console differentiation" by matching console hardware specs with PS3 and Xbox360. It was hard to say if the document was fake or legit, even though a $250 price tag is traditional for a Nintendo home console, but with the system being released with a gamepad controller, a $300 price tag would seem the most plausible. Unfortunately, the leaked document was soon taken down, so I can't offer any links.

4. Jimmy Fallon thought Wii U was just a new Wii.

Yeah...you can watch it here. Thanks for adding more confusion to the already confused casual market that thinks this is just a new Wii accessory, Jimmy. The system needs all the help it can get.
3. Keldeo Resolution form Revealed.

Teased on Tuesday in a magazine scan, Keldeo's new form was finally revealed this week showing off a more gutsy form of the newest Event Pokemon. According to Serebii Keldeo can only change form in B/W2 in Sangi Town while Terrakion, Virizion, and Coballon are in your party, and when Keldeo knows the move Secret Sword. Like the new form? Hate it? Tell us what you think!
2. Kirby 20th Anniversary Game Line-up revealed.

Good news for Kirby fans: Kirby's 20th anniversary will not be in vain. The pink puffball's next foray will be a collection of his finest games for the Wii: Kirby's Dream Land (Game Boy) Kirby's Adventure (NES) Kirby's Dream Land 2 (Game Boy) Kirby Super Star (SNES) Kirby's Dream Land 3 (SNES) Kirby 64 (Nintendo 64), and will feature an on-disc history calender, a compilation CD, and some games will even include bonus content and new levels. It's every fan's dream collection of Kirby games all rolled into one! Happy birthday, Kirby; may your games live on for many, many more anniversaries!
1. Miyamoto wants to make a FPS for the Wii U?

Source: Kotaku. You heard right. The man behind Mario and Zelda wants to someday make a FPS akin to Doom and Call of Duty for the Wii U. "I actually do kind of want to make a first-person shooter," he says, "but I don't have time." And also went on to specifics as how he'd make a FPS: "Rather than necessarily the question of 'What kind of weapon do I have?' in a first person shooter or 'What kind of effect does that have on an enemy?', I think that the structure of a first-person shooter is something that's very interesting," he said through a translator. "Having that 3D space that in theory you are in and being able to look around and explore that—particularly being able to do that in conjunction with another person—is very interesting." If anything it will not be your typical affair of a FPS, as shown how Miyamoto put his own spin on the RTS genre with Pikmin. Whenever he does decide to make a FPS, or whatever he does with the genre you can be rest assured that it will be like nothing we've played before.

Tune back next Sunday for other Big N5 of the week!

(Beautiful aren't they?) You can catch these beauties in the 3DS exclusive Pokemon AR Searcher, which will be released sometime this Summer.

-Pokemon Musical replaced by Pokewood; where you can battle Gym leaders from past Pokemon games!
-Cheren is rumored to be a Gym Leader.
-New evil team has been rumored.

Whoa! This is shaping to be the best new Pokemon iterations yet!

Hey all you Trainers! Here's the new trailer for Pokemon B/W2 as shown on Nintendo Direct yesterday:

-The game will be set in a new starting point in Hiogi City, and you'll be able to play as one of two new protagonists.

-Gyms will receive complete overhauls, and some Gym Leaders are being replaced by new trainers.

-The game will boast the Pokedex count to 150 Pokemon from past Gens.

-The games are slated for a June 23 release in Japan, and will arrive in North America and Europe this fall.

Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 announced!

And they said it wouldn't happen. Tsk, Tsk.

Prepare to journey back to Unova, because the new iteration (or make that iterations) to Pokemon Black/White are announced for the Nintendo DS! Numbered remakes? Now that's an interesting first...for this series anyway. And it seems Zekrom and Reshiram have received surprising new make-overs. (Is that Kyurem armor???) The games are set for a Spring release in Japan, so don't expect these titles overseas until at least the third quarter, but expect many more surprises as we continue through 2012.

EDIT: Those aren't Reshiram and Zekrom; they're both new Formes for Kyurem, the 3rd legendary and it seems that it's fused with the both of them. The correct release date for B/W2 in Japan is June 2, 2012, and we should be set for a whole new story as well! That's right, no more minor story modifications in a 3rd version! Wonder what happens?

Also, the game is for the Nintendo DS, with 3DS-exclusive features.

-

Also, in other news, The Last Story is set for an American release! Can this year get any better?!

Pokemon + Nobunaga Crossover heading to DS next year.

All I can say is,"huh"?

Once every blue moon a crossover comet streaks through the open sky, flailing it's multiple arms about screaming: "Hi there!" No, it's not just a hybrid of two delicious holy entities of Peanut Butter and chocolate, it's more than that. This unpredictable force breaks the mold of gaming, shattering the tried and true formula of making a franchise, release a sequel every year, try to improve them as time goes by not making them feel all the same, etc., but instead combines two incredible series and in the process creates a whole new different franchise all on it's own. Who would've thought that a Disney and Final Fantasy crossover would've worked as well as it did, spanning sequels, prequels, and spin-offs while created a new fanbase of gamers? Who would thought we'd see Marvel heroes/villains duke it out with Street Fighter characters, or Pheonix Wright and Professor Layton would be pointing fingers and yelling "Objection!" in a courtroom together?

I am proud to say that this tradition of crossovers is not over; a new crossover is in the making for the DS: Pokemon will team up with characters from the popular turn-based grand role-playing PC game Nobunaga Ambition. Players will command their team of Pokemon in turn-based battles in an ancient Japanese setting against other Warlords (who spark a mild resemblance to their main Pokemon) commanded by the main warlord of the game, Nobunaga, who is seen with his Zekrom. The game let's choose to be either male or female and your default Pokemon is none other than the versatile Eevee. So it's more or less the same Pokemon game we've grown to love with a slight Tactics twist. A trailer of the game is released and images of the game can be seen here.
The game is due for release in Japan sometime next Spring. No word on an America release, but knowing how well Pokemon games sell in America, it would be a shame for both the fans and Nintendo if it wasn't released in the West.
It's great to see two franchises like these unexpectedly clash, and if the game becomes popular enough to garner sequels, then color me excited.

2012 Nintendo game release dates

And finally we get concrete dates on some of the other talked about games last year that couldn't make it before the end of this year, those that aren't named Zelda or Mario Kart or 3D Land. And some of them have really been sitting in TBA for a long, long time now *glares at Kid Icarus Uprising*

It's been in the 3DS hot seat since the console's revealing at E3 2010 but never made it to launch or anywhere near that. No idea why, but it's now slated for March 23 2012, according to Nintendo.

Remember this thing? I just posted about it right below this, and it's going to US as well, but not with Monster Hunter 3G in tow. Rather, it'll be released together with Resident Evil Revelations on February 7 2012. The catch? 3DS' very own frankenstick will only be sold in GameStop, much like the cautious limited US release for Xenoblade Chronicles. I don't understand why Nintendo are giving GameStop the exclusive treatment, it's just limiting sales.

The adorable Rhythm Heaven Wii which made a decent wave in Japan some months ago gets a new title, Rhythm Heaven Fever, and a box art bursting with color! It's coming on February 13, one week after RE Revelations.

No it's not a Mario bowling game, this is Mario Party 9, and it gets a 2012 release date on March 11. That's a goodd way to fill up the release schedule pre-E3 2012....maybe. I do dig some Mario Party though; been itching for something better than the mediocre MP8.

Okay so this may not be on every Wii gamer's wishlist but it's definitely something worth noting anyway since Pokepark 2, right from the first revealed screenshot, already looks ten times more polished than the first game and features at the very least more replayable minigames and battle games. Instead of Beyond the World, the US subtitle is Wonders Beyond, and it's coming on February 27, 2012.

Other release dates to look out for:

  • Tales of the Abyss for 3DS, February 14
  • Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games for 3DS, also February 14
  • Tekken 3D Prime Edition for 3DS on February 2012
  • Metal Gear Solid 3D on Q1 2012
And some other things including downloadable eShop and VC games are coming out too. Good ones at that; a Jett Rocket sequel on 3DS, VVVVV and Kirby's Block Ball among other things.

We've yet to hear from the other 3DS big titles like Luigi's Mansion 2 and Paper Mario, but time will tell.

Super Pokemon Scramble screenshots and trailer

This is from the official site's main page. If you view it there and mouse over this picture you can see it move too. Nice 3D effect! Release date confirmed too- Scramble will be out in Japan for 3DS on July 28th this year!

Official trailer for the game. Not the most exciting one though, I expected a lot more flash from a game like this. Shows Battle Royale, some sort of showdown between two groups of toys, and a boss battle with Zekrom. Same deal as WiiWare then.

Gen 5 Pokemon aren't the the only species to be on Super Pokemon Scramble- it would be otherwise limited and boring. Shown here is a Lumineon.

The charge battle! Looks like rapid button pressing.

Miis are now official. They're the owners of the Pokemon toys you control.

Boss battle with Zekrom, equally as chibified as everyone else.

Battle Royale, the Smash Bros.-like main attraction of the game where you're dumped into a closed arena and beat the crap out of everything till a clear winner is announced.

Super Pokemon Scramble boxart

By far, one of the best boxarts for a Pokemon game I have ever seen. Look at everything so big-headed and cute...aww. Doesn't have a release date yet, and the only things we know are from the two pre-release screenshots below, and that the gameplay is the same as the WiiWare version. WWell with this box we know it's a retail 3DS game, and that it has lots of battle modes and supports SpotPass.

Super Pokemon Scramble

Is this the 'new Pokemon game'? Either way this is a Gen 5 sequel to the spinoff title on WiiWare, Pokemon Rumble. 2 pre-release screenshots above- not even CoroCoro has featured the game yet! (by which time there will be a lot more details).

Also, there's going to be Miis in the game. Miis fit almost anywhere, don't they?
