DS saves mom from Car Crash

Written by pikaby

Every week, without fail it seems, there's one amazing story about the DS after another. Here's this week's edition, coming from Down Under. (Image from Kotaku)

First, a DS saves a boy's eyesight with the magical powers of eye muscle training and Mario Kart, and now, DS saved someone from a car crash with the magical powers of the backlit screen. Yep, when the driver of this car flipped out to dodge a road-crossing kangaroo (and subsequently crashed), the DS was responsible for the emergency call.

Five people were in the car, three kids, their mother, and her partner. One of them, 7 year old Christopher, as in the picture, used the lights from his Nintendo DS to find his mom's cellphone to call for help, before helping one of his brothers before mom could free herself from the wreckage. He was later awarded. (News article link)

Nintendo DS saves lives...Has a nice ring to it. Is there anything it can't do?

On the topic of a DS being used as an improvised flashlight, he's not the first one though. I use it all the time when I'm too lazy to turn on the lights when searching for a small thing in a dark room.
