3. Genesect available at launch via Mystery Gift! 
Having a hard time tracking down those darn Event Pokemon? Well lucky for you, because Genesect, that cyborg prior-Japanese-only Pokemon, will be available via mystery gift on the day Pokemon Black 2/White 2 are released for nearly two months! Get your bodies ready, trainers!

2. New Nintendo Land attractions revealed. (image linked from GoNintendo) 
New attractions for the upcoming Wii U launch title Nintendo Land have been revealed as a shooting game inspired by Metroid, where the the player controlling the control pad steers Samus' ship blasting at other players below. The second attraction revealed was a Balloon Fighter mini-game, but very many images have surfaced as of yet.

 1. Club Nintendo gave away limited Kirby medals as a reward this week. 
For only 600 coins (and if you were one of the lucky ones to get) Club Nintendo members snagged this shiny Kirby pin. Unfortunately, it was limited to only 1,000 pins and is not not available any more (WHY CRUEL WORLD?!?!). Kirby's 20th Anniversary for Wii is still available though, so snag it up while you can!

Nintendo Direct! Layton! Sweaters!

5. Nintendo's knitting peripheral that never was. 
Yes, that is a knitting machine peripheral for the NES that knits you sweaters as you play games - I'm as confused as you are. The idea was shut down of course, but, whoa. I wonder if the thought occurred to them to make it knit Link caps as you play LoZ or overalls as you play Mario. That would've been epic.
     

4. TWEWY 2 teased: is it for 3DS? 
The long awaited REAL sequel to the cult classic TWEWY has been teased in a screen shot that's unlocked after the iOS title is completed. Yes, TWEWY 2 is in the making! Now we just have to wait and see if it's confirmed as a 3DS title. Keep fingers crossed!

3. U.K. Club Nintendo Reward: Mario Kart trophies! 
If you live in the U.K. and have a Club Nintendo account (with a fair amount of coins) you might be able to score one of four Mario Kart inspired trophies! Unfortunately, there's no plans from NOA to make this a reward in the U.S., but you can still look at these sweet pics.


 

2. Nintendo Direct: GameFreak's new 3DS eShop rhythm game, Harmo Knight! 
It's not everyday GameFreak makes a new game, so that makes their new rhythm game Harmo Knight an even more intriguing original game. As seen in the trailer you'll slice your way through enemies to the beat and travel a Mario World inspired hub map. The game also sports an impressive amount of Pokemon nostalgia: from Reshiram mountain face to even the music tracks inspired by various Pokemon games. Knowing how well GameFreak did with Pulseman and Drill Dozer, this should be a game to look out for.

1. Nintendo Direct: Professor Layton 6 revealed! 
While it won't be the last we'll see of the professor (if you count Professor Layton vs. Pheonix Wright), the hit Layton series is coming to a close next year. Taking place after the Mask of Miracle, this will be the last game in the series, but fourth chronologically and it's release date has been slated for a 2013 release date in Japan. Other noteworthy mentions in last week's Nintendo Direct were a new Pink and white 3DS XL, more animal Crossing news and pics, Project X Zone, and a Tomadachi collection for 3DS (Which is similar to Animal Crossing). What a great week!

The Big N5 of the Week - Fox! Items! Final Destination!

The Big N5 returns this week with more Nintendo news! Let's get down to it:

5. Miyamoto wants Metroid and Star Fox on Wii U. 
Good news for Metroid and Star Fox fans: Miyamoto has recently quoted that he'd love to see these series on the Wii U. "With Metroid it's very easy to imagine some interesting implementation for Wii U. I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development, and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that. I feel like the possibilities of the GamePad for Metroid could be really fantastic. There's certainly a lot that you could do there for that game." You can read the quote about Star Fox here. While this doesn't confirm anything yet, you can bet we'll be seeing these titles in the near future.

4. Club Nintendo yearly Gold and Platinum rewards revealed. 
If you were lucky enough to hit Elite status on Club Nintendo this year, you can choose a free item from an assortment of free games from Majora's Mask and Metroid II, to posters and playing cards. Most of the items are available for both Elite status members, so make sure to check it out and snag a free gift.

3. Majora's Mask Record breaking speedrun. 
In one playthrough a loyal gamer has beaten the speedrun of Majora's Mask by completing the game in just 6 hours 6 mins 26 secs. You can view his performance here if you have 6 hours to spend at least.

2. New Pokedex 3D Pro Japanese Trailer. 
A  new trailer for the upcoming Pokedex 3D Pro has been revealed via the Japanese Nintendo Channel. The updated application will feature no fewer than 727 Pokemon sprites with animations (No, it's not a Gen 6 preview, it's all the Pokemon and their alternative forms). Boasting also a new Challenge Mode to test your knowledge on Pokemon trivia and an updated AR viwer to view all the present Pokemon, Pokedex 3D Pro proves to be greatly improved from the last application. The application will be released in Japan on July 14, and a Fall release date is slated for everywhere else.

1. Mighty Switch Force HD announced for Wii U eShop.

The 3DS eShop hit Mighty Switch Force is coming to Wii U eShop, courtesy of WayForward. With beautifully redrawn graphics, Wii U controller support (you can even play the game on the Wii U pad alone), and bonus new content, it's shaping up to be a completely new experience. The game is being aimed at the Wii U launch, so you won't have to wait long to play this beauty. Also worth noting that another WayForward title, Shantae, will be re-released on the 3DS Virtual Console! A release date has not been determined yet, but expect a release this summer.

Second big game conference in a row: PAX

Nintendo are on a roll. After having playable demos of their tantalizing fall lineup, they're doing it again at Penny Arcade Expo this year, with the same games. Hopefully, unlike Gamescom, there will be game trailers. I want a new Kirby's Epic Yarn trailer to drool over, dammit! And also, footage of Bit.trip Fate, which nothing is known about yet.

The PR email reads:

The upcoming Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in Seattle will give consumers their first-ever chance to play upcoming Wii™ and Nintendo DS™ games. Visitors to Nintendo’s booth (#352) will be able to get their hands on games such as Donkey Kong Country™ Returns, Kirby’s Epic Yarn™, GoldenEye 007 from Activision Publishing, Inc. and NBA JAM from EA SPORTS™. Fluidity, a new game for Nintendo’s WiiWare™ downloadable game service, will also make its debut at PAX.
Nintendo’s Fluidity combines an amazing physics engine that realistically models flowing water with innovative puzzle game play. Using the three forms of water – liquid, ice and cloud – players will solve challenging puzzles across multiple chapters of an illustrated magical book called Aquaticus. The game offers detailed tutorials that introduce basic game mechanics, but the complexity quickly ramps up as special powers are acquired and enemies are introduced, testing players’ reflexes and ingenuity.
PAX attendees will also be able to get their hands on Metroid™: Other M to see the seamless new perspective-switching first-person/third-person approach to this classic franchise. Visitors to the booth can also view one-of-a-kind costumes and props from the new Metroid: Other M television commercial in a special display area. Combining exploration, combat and a storyline that delves into the personal history of bounty hunter Samus Aran, Metroid: Other M launches on Aug. 31.
With so many video game fans converging in one place, PAX is the ideal place for players who already own DRAGON QUEST® IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies™ to gather to trade treasure maps or go questing together. Nintendo will provide DRAGON QUEST IX owners at the show with a special downloadable “Orgodemir” map via the game’s cooperative “Tag Mode” feature. Anyone who hasn’t yet purchased the game for the Nintendo DS family of systems can try it out at the Nintendo booth, and those looking to meet up with other players can do so at a special game-themed lounge in the North Lobby on level four of the PAX venue.
To receive treasure maps, players must have their Nintendo DS system running the DRAGON QUEST IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies game, set to Tag Mode. Once players reach the town of Stornway, they are able to access Tag Mode by talking to Erinn at the inn called “Quester’s Rest.”

Nintendo to attend Gamescon

For the usually xenophobic Nintendo, attending many games conventions to show off their goods hasn't been one of their strong points. This just in though- Nintendo wants to change that. It's attending the Gamescom convention a week from now, and they're showing off stuff for some of their most anticipated games there! Hopefully some new trailers- I can't wait to see more of Skyward Sword and Kirby's Epic Yarn.

NINTENDO SHOWCASES TRADITION AND INNOVATION AT GAMESCOM

Anticipated new releases including The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword featuring Wii MotionPlus and Metroid: Other M playable on show floor

Nintendo will kick off this year’s gamescom trade fair in Cologne on 18th August with a mixture of traditional classics and innovative games. Offering something for everyone, Nintendo’s booth at gamescom will be dedicated to games that will certainly cater for all tastes. From legendary franchises like Mario and Zelda to the exciting and innovative Wii Party, Nintendo offers a range of titles to get family and friends playing together all over the globe.

Charles Martinet – the voice of Nintendo’s plucky plumber, Mario, and many other Nintendo characters for more than 20 years, will be present at the show, where guests can play all of the Mario games that have ever appeared for Wii and Nintendo DS, including the latest cosmic funfest Super Mario Galaxy 2. Visitors to the Nintendo stand will not only be able to get their hands on an exciting range of upcoming game titles – including The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Metroid: Other M, Donkey Kong CountryTM Returns, Wii Party and many others – but popular TV celebrity Tim Feldner will be on hand to provide fun and excitement.

In fact, anyone planning on visiting the Nintendo booth in Cologne can look forward to an altogether engaging experience playing some of the most fun and exciting games in motion- and handheld gaming from both Nintendo and third-party publishers on Wii and Nintendo DS. Okay that's enough of that, it's a long article, and from the front paragraphs we pretty much know what they'll be showing- bombshell after bombshell of what made their show at E3 this year so successful. All the core games that fans want! Metroid Other: M and Skyward Sword will definitely hog the show, but don't forget everything else!

I was hoping for a mention of Flingsmash though. Please don't make it too obscure.

Club Nintendo Elite Status Rewards 2010!

Yes, the rewards for Club Nintendo have been announced for the 2009/2010 year. Last year we got a Mario Hat or Doc Louis' Punch-Out!! for Platinum and a calendar for Gold... what about this year?
