This only makes me wonder when people will stop crapping out pointless WiiWare games. It's not a novel idea either- there's at least two other WiiWare games based on fireplaces already. Still, it's the first one I've seen before I found out it was done before.

Bit.trip Fate Trailer
Written by pikaby
The fifth game in the WiiWare series, and it's now a 2D shooter. Trippy, and Commander Video's involved again. Hopefully more forgiving than Runner.

PAX 2010- Fluidity
Written by pikaby
A new Wiiware game developed by Nintendo themselves. Tilt the screen to control a body of water around to solve puzzles....eh. The idea is meh, and has been done before in a much more interesting manner by Mercury and LocoRoco. Still, this water-based game worth watching out for, if only for the fact that Nintendo made it and if your Wiiware library is looking a little dry *gets shot*

Oh Japan, why you so crazy? I've only just found this out through this week's Nintendo Week show, but it's been out in Japan since last year. Guess it's never too late to catch up.
The typical Japanese crazy is injected in the story. I'll let the official site explain it best.
'Business man Hitoshi Susumu is behind schedule and is in quite a rush. In fact, he won't stop once he starts to run! Dashing past samurais, T-Rexes, cowboys, and all manner of wacky obstacles Mr. Susumu must get to the goal as fast as he can for the ultimate 2D dance party.'
It's all a bit like Bit.Trip Runner. You have to press buttons at the perfect timing with the music to avoid obstacles. And where Dance Dance Revolution gave out 'Good!' and 'Great!' for hitting notes in time, this one goes one further with an emphatic 'GREEEAT!' Worth buying alone just to see how many 'E's they can add to that word.
Out now for 500 Wii Points.

Jett Rocket is released!
Written by pikaby
One of our mod team has got his hands on it, so we'll probably see a review from him sooner or later.
And from the looks of early gameplay videos by people who have played it already, the similarities to Mario Galaxy just don't stop. The graphics are pretty much Galaxy standard, which is really, really surprising for a Wiiware game, and when you start a level you're treated to the same style of fly-by of the stage you're in with the camera zooming in to the main objective. Just like....guess what....Mario Galaxy.
Jett Rocket's a platformer, like Mario Galaxy. He has three hearts, just like Mario in Mario Galaxy. The only thing really that separates the two is the less charismatic character you control in this game, but hey, how many Mario-caliber mascots do you get in 20 years time?
Many are hyping this up to be the Wiiware game of the year. Let's see what happens when the critic scores start pouring in for Jett Rocket. One to look out for. And it's on the shop now for 1000 Wii Points.

Phoenix Wright 1's Final Episode available now as WiiWare DLC
Written by pikaby
OBJECTION!
Why is the fifth case separate from the rest of Phoenix Wright 1, and not as part of the package? I call ripoff!
Ah, but remember, the original version on GBA (Gyakuten Saiban) didn't have five cases in it, but ended on the fourth one. The final case is exclusive to the DS remake and is now being brought to Wiiware for a mere 100 extra points. Considering this particular case is a long, meandering conspiracy, it's well worth those points. The final case is called 'Rise From The Ashes'. It's a real fan favorite.
But strange, I had the impression that the final case was released long ago in tandem with Phoenix Wright 1 on WiiWare. Guess I was mistaken.

Sonic 4...Delayed!
Written by pikaby
From a summer release, Segs's moved Sonic 4 out and delayed it again, to nearly the end of the year. here was never any official release date, but if there were you can still expect to tack on another few months of waiting.
According to Sega the delay was to receive feedback from its fans and try to use their suggestions. This was written on their blog:
"For the first time ever, we've mixed internal suggestions alongside fan feedback to make some new, positive changes to the game. Yes, you just read that correctly. You're not dreaming."
I'm not sure what you mean, though. Sonic was built to run fast. It only makes sense that his games should be released fast.

Jett Rocket official site!
Written by pikaby
Shin'en is either not doing very well financially, is too scroogey or didn't feel the need to make a fancy Flash website for a Wiiware game that probably won't sell despite how awesome-looking it is. I'm guessing it's the latter.
But how they managed to emulate Mario Galaxy's graphics at just a fraction of its production cost is way beyond me. Even if the game is drab, this Wiiware game could sail on aesthetics alone, especially if it isn't 1000 points.
The site is here. Features a collection of the trailers that are currently out on show for Jett Rocket and a few details.

A Wiiware game that looks like Super Mario Galaxy?
Written by pikaby
Don't take my word for it. The game's called Jett Rocket, a platformer game created by Shin'en, makers of Iridion 3D (GBA) and Nanostray 1/2 (DS). Their fingerprints are all over this game-even the music reminds me f something from Nanostray.
And it does look surprisingly similar to Mario Galaxy, albeit with a slightly less iconic character. Let's see if the gameplay will stack up as well as the graphics.

Cave Story Review
Written by DG
Cave Story is a beautiful little genre blending RPG shooter that took Studio Pixel, a one-man show by Daisuke Amaya, five years to finish and polish. And what did Pixel do after devoting so much time to this game? Why, he gave it away for free. Since it's release, Cave Story has received fan translations and ports. If you are literate and own a computer, you can probably play Cave Story. Just recently however, in March, Cave Story was officially released on Wiiware in english for 1,200 Wii points ($12) (see fan translation/official version differences). Pixel however continues to endorse the circulation of the free PC version and all fan works.Cave Story Review

Want Cave Story Wii FREE?

Nicalis, the company that ported/remade Cave Story for Wiiware is giving away two copies a day ending Friday March 26th. Check their blog for more info.

Normally, a Wiiware version of Cave Story goes for 1,200 Wii points ($12).
If that's a bit out of your budget, Pixel has promised to continue giving away the original version for free.

Enjoy.

Cave Story Wiiware
Written by pikaby
The release date is today, March 22! Official website at nintendo.com for the Wiiware version. Okay, so it's March 22 here and not yet in the US, so at the time of blogging I don't know how many Wii Points it will cost, but that might change in the next few hours.

Bit.trip Runner
Written by pikaby
Gaijin Games have done it again. With three successful and trippy-looking Bit.trip games under their belt in just two years time, they've proceeded to make a fourth, called Bit.trip Runner! As with the rest, Runner is loosely rhythm based. Is there no end to their Wiiware masterpieces?
You play as Commander Video this time and you're tasked with running through a stage and dodging obstacles and collecting....whatever those are at the same time all in tune to the music. Kinda reminds me of the old PS1 game Pepsiman(for Japan only). Again, another great piece of work and another Trip game to drool over.

Probably the first in the ArtStyle series that isn't a puzzle game, this Wiiware title has you controlling a line of light, racing other lines. It's actually a remade version of bitGenerations game Dotstream, which has a similar concept. None is known about the release date or how many points it will cost, but I can keep updated on this game. Simple, trippy games like this don't escape my attention :)
