Monster Hunter Tri's online system is phenomenal. It pioneers Friend Code-less online gaming for any of Nintendo's consoles, is free of charge for any region outside of Japan and is damn fun and compelling. That is, until.....

How would you counter-argue these? 2
Written by pikaby
Occasionally I pick up really obvious fanboy game reviews from the depths of the scum known as user-contributed reviews and stack them up against what everyone else loves about the game. First one was Mario Galaxy 2, now I'm putting a Monster Hunter Tri review under close scrutiny. Again, I won't link to this review for privacy protection reasons, but enjoy seeing what this prick had to bash about MH3.

When Smash Bros Brawl and Monster Hunter Tri meet...
Written by pikaby
Some pretty amazing crossover is created. THIS is why texture hacks exist in Smash Bros. Brawl!
A bright spark has replaced the Final Destination stage with the ship you ride on in 'The Festival of Fear', an urgent quest found online in Monster Hunter Tri. Good choice, this is one of the most epic quests in the entire game, featuring one of the most epic boss encounters in the game, the elder dragon Jhen Mohran. Seen the trailers? You know how massive it is. One of the music tracks in Brawl(this guy chose Pictochat) has also been replaced with the track that plays in the Jhen Mohran fight.
The texture hack can be downloaded from here, but don't ask me how to make it work, I'm not that great at hacking Wiis.
Come on now. Tell me this isn't the most amazing thing you've ever seen. Jhen Mohran is animated in full in the background, but it doesn't pose any hazard to the fighters in the foreground, and not enough effects on the moving sand. Nevertheless, one of the best hacks ever made for Brawl. Game enough to try?

Monster Hunter Tri- Bnahabra
Written by pikaby
Gee, their name sure is hard to spell. And harder to pronounce. Bnahabra are the annoying insect things you'll see in Monster Hunter Tri that will continue to bug you from early in the game onwards. And I've recently uncovered something pretty interesting about them. Now to mess around with their design.
No difference, right? Bnahabra looks like a sleeker version of the Virtual Boy. I always knew the Virtual Boy will have some sort of usefulness down the line.

Nintendo Week- Monster Hunter Tri Launch Event
Written by pikaby
No Dark Gary this week, it's all about Monster Hunter Tri and little else. Well, there really aren't many games to go by this week anyway. Gary and Alison interviewed the creators and checked out the Classic Controller Pro. Black, it was, and bundled together with the game and Wii Speak was there too. Damn I'd really like to at least take a gander inside Nintendo World for once. I'd kill to go to New York just for that. Those two should feature DodoGo next week. It's amazing and not enough people know about it.

Gamespot gives 8.0 score for Monster Hunter Tri
Written by pikaby
And Gamespot finally reviews the week-old and highly anticipated Monster Hunter Tri for the Nintendo Wii. Gee, that's a lower score than I'd expected, but hey, this is Gamespot. They have high standards. Not that they have given ANY Wii game anything beyond 8.5 for a year now. Come on, the Wii isn't that bad.

Monster Hunter Tri Launch Trailer
Written by pikaby
It's April 20 in Malaysia, and less than 12 hours before this date hits the US, and a storm of gaming sweeps past it too, as Monster Hunter Tri finally gets launched in full English. It. Will. Rock.
I could've sworn that sounded a lot like Avatar at the beginning. The singing voices, I meant. Best launch trailer this year, and best looking game for the Wii. Lagiacrus(the underwater dragon-like beastie...wait, nearly ALL the monsters look like dragons and dinosaurs) looks to be the key monster to this story, kinda like the legendary Pokemon to their own games.

Monster Hunter Tri gameplay videos

Iwata wasn't kidding when he said Monster Hunter Tri's visuals put the Zelda team to shame. It looks more impressive than almost anything else on the Wii bar Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy.
With the official release date of this game for the US so close now I thought I'd pull a few gameplay videos from Youtube. Remember, online is free in US (pay-to-play in Japan), except for extra content which you buy with Nintendo Points, and does not use the antiquated Friend Code system. You get to keep a roster of friends with your ID name like you do in every other game for X360/PS3. Looks like it isn't just in the visuals department that Nintendo needs to buck up on.
The one problem I can foresee.....loading screen cuts in too frequently and abruptly. Ruins some of the atmosphere. Still hyped, though, it's like Pokemon, but instead of catching them all you find and kill them all. Every monster feels like a boss. Epic.

Monster Hunter Tri visuals 'put pressure on Nintendo'
Written by pikaby
Ahh...I can't believe I haven't read through the whole Iwata Asks interview for Monster Hunter Tri yet! In fact I haven't been keeping up with the game at all....it wasn't something that looked like it'd interest me right away. But then I went and read some previews, all with positive feedback. Now I'm interested. Why are the Japanese lapping it up? Better try it out for myself...but for now, an interesting tidbit from the interview regarding the graphics of the Wii.
