Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Minna de Party Sandaime! Import Review

Written by pikaby

If you've followed my import reviews for a while you already know what Taiko no Tatsujin is and why it's one of the most awesome rhythm games you'll ever play (steep challenge, cute graphics, not overmilked every 3 months like Guitar Hero), so I'll skip the usual introduction and go straight to talking about the game itself. And like both Wii Taiko games before it, this third installment is a doozy.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii in Taiko Wii 3- video version

Written by pikaby

I posted screens a few weeks ago, now here's the song in video form! The medley goes from overworld music to underground, to coin grabbing, to bonus room, to sky world, to end. It's a nice medley that will give fangasms to anyone who's played New Super Mario Bros. before. All the sound effects are in place too, except Mario's voice, of course (Charles Martinet demands a premium for the rights to his awesome voice)

A more detailed aticle about Taiko no Tatsujin Wii 3 is in our sister blog, Taiko Time, but the import review will still be on here when I have the time to write it. Enjoy the Mario!

New Super Mario Bros. Wii in Taiko Wii 3

Written by pikaby

Mario songs in Taiko no Tatsujin isn't terribly new (there have been two different medley remixes of the 1985 original Super Mario Bros.), but this looks really special for some reason.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii, composed from the ground up with the Wii in mind! This song is making its debut in the 3rd Taiko no Tatsujin Wii game. Namco  has thrown a lot of weight behind the Wii Taiko games seeing as both the first and second game did so well in sales, but this just pushes it to the next level! One of the best selling Wii games of all time is being used as a song here in one of my most favorite rhythm games! I am so stoked...

By the way, Taiko no Tatsujin has never had any 3D models in its games before. Until now. Mario is awesome.

Taiko no Tatsujin Wii 3 will be released on December 2 this year.

Taiko no Tatsujin DS3: All the text passwords!

Written by pikaby

Sourced from a Japanese blog (but don't know how he managed to crack it). The audio password unlocked a new song, and these are the text passwords that let you access all the remaining hidden costumes and sounds in Taiko no Tatsujin DS3. Leaked, they are. Nintendo 5-Star, the blog with the most hidden tricks and tips on obscure Japanese games or your money back. These are noted as spoilers, so importers, take note.

Officially speaking, Taiko no Tatsujin DS3's songlist has 50 songs. But a hidden password screen hides one more song. What's the song like? "I'm lovin' it". Get the hint now?

Taiko no Tatsujin DS: Dororon! Youkai Dai Kessen! Special Import Review

Written by pikaby

Alright, I said I'd review it, so here we are! Since the songlist is the lifeline of any rhythm game, and most especially Taiko no Tatsujin, I'll make that the most important point of my review. But first, everything else.

Rhythm meets its new partner

Written by pikaby

Talk about odd couples. One of the least likely pairing in the videogame world has occured, and it's in a cult Japanese rhythm game with a penchant for doing things a regular rhythm game normally wouldn't dare.

Taiko no Tatsujin DS 3: More songs revealed

Written by pikaby

The Japan-only rhythm game that comes out for the DS on July 1 will feature 50 songs in its list. That alone is music to fans' ears, but the revealing of which songs made it into the list generates even more excitement(oh, you don't know how stoked I am!). From 22 songs, the list has now expanded to 36 songs, with 6 more hidden away as secrets (and thus prevented from being published in any site ever for spoilerific reasons)

The new songs come from the latest issue of Dengeki.

Since it doesn't allow hotlinking, here's the link to the picture instead. It's pretty blurry, but at least a few people can make out what the words say. Why do the people with the worst quality cameras/recorders always get the scoop first?

Taiko no Tatsujin DS 3 official site now up!

Written by pikaby

A logo too. And I won't stop promoting it till everyone who's ever touched a rhythm game before gets into Taiko no Tatsujin.

The official site can be found here:

Listen to the (yet unrevealed name) theme song! Just a few hours after I had the magazine scan up and ready to speculate too.

Namco's Taiko no Tatsujin team April Fools!

Written by pikaby

I'm a huge Taiko no Tatsujin fan, so I'm big on anything new that involves Taiko. Even better if it involves a new epic song crafted by the Taiko team themselves exclusively for the game series. The tougher the better. I like my songs hard to clear. Especially songs that end with 2000 in them, they are the mark of rhythm torture.

So imagine how I jizzed my pants when I saw this:

New 2000 song? Yellow Daruma 2000? HUZZA....wait. I just remembered what day it is. When a series goes far enough to cater to a high level of obsession, any little thing will spark nerdgasm. XD

Good work, Namco!

5 Games that should be Localized

Written by pikaby

DS and Wii games from Japan that should be localized in the US, just because they are awesome. I'll do myself a favor and avoid the obligatory Mother 3(Earthbound 3) game, because that's what every Nintendo fan wants over at the States and so it isn't really worth explaining further. (Why do I want Mother 3 in English? Because it's awesome!!!!!one!!!1!!) <--Typical response.
