In every Pokemon game, there's been a game corner. These would have slots we could play and in G/S/C and R/S/E, a roulette/poker combination. We've enjoyed their subtle hints. I myself have stayed up for hours playing the Celadon Slots in Pokemon FireRed. But HeartGold and SoulSilver have done something. They've entirely revamped it!
In Goldenrod City, the Game Corner would rest. You can play your heart away at the slots... in the Japanese version. The North American version of the game has a completely new game. It's called Voltorb Flip.
Basically, it's a Pokemon version of the old Minesweeper game. Ten cards are layed out in front of you. You pick a card and the number (1-3) is your coin value. After you've picked your first card, the cards start to multiply, rather than add. So if you hit a 2 on your first turn, then a 3, you get 6 coins total.
At the bottom and right of each collomn and row of cards, you will see a small Voltorb and a number. That number indicates how many Voltorbs can be found in that row or collomn. If you hit a Voltorb card, you lose. You don't get any coins, either. This game is much more difficult than the slots, but it's still fun. This game is also present at the Celadon City Game Corner.
I personally prefer the slots, but some people may like Voltorb Flip more. But I think we can all agree that the Card Guess in the original G/S is the best of all.

Still it's a difference only noticeable if you have both.

It's noticeable if you care about nostalgia.

It's noticeable if you wanna buy a tm cos you can't buy coins anymore, gotta win all 10000 in an extremely hard game that gives out like 32 coins at a time.
